Starting from the top of the cam sprocket and moving clockwise , the timing belt travels over the water pump , around the crank sprocket , over the top of the tensioning roller and back onto the cam sprocket . The piston inside the tensioning damper pushes upwards against the plate that is attached to the tensioning roller . As the plate moves up it brings the roller with it and tensions the timing belt . |
